Paul Mansell began studying the classical guitar at the age of 15 and went on to gain Grade 8 with distinction. In 2014 Paul discovered the ukulele and by 2015 he had gained an Honours Diploma (AVCM) on the ukulele from the Victoria College of Music, where he scored an impressive 95% in his diploma performance exam. Paul earns his living from playing, performing and teaching both classical guitar and ukulele.
Paul is an experienced vocalist, songwriter and music producer, and is currently signed to Firestation Records label as a singer/songwriter. His songs have been played on Radio 1 and used in adverts on American TV. As a songwriter, he has been interviewed by the BBC and has featured in PRS magazine. Paul has gigged all over the UK in signed indie bands and professional function bands, including sold-out gigs headlining at Rock City in Covent Garden. As a session musician, he has played the guitar for numerous musicians, including professional drummer Alex Biggs in his series of books Drums by Alex Biggs.
When Paul is not teaching music to his many students, he gives classical guitar recitals and focuses on composing tracks for his ukulele albums, which are available through Kevin Mayhew Records. Several pieces from this book are to be featured in the VCM Ukulele exam syllabus. Paul is a member of The Registry of Guitar Teachers (RGT).
